CHAPTER OFFICERS

Chapter Officers shall be the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Road Captain. Other positions may be established and elected as determined by the Chapter members in accordance with elections which are consistent with the by-laws of the International. Only Active members may hold the Office President and Vice-President of a chapter. The Offices of the Secretary and Treasurer may be held by Adult Active/Social members provided that there are no Active members available to hold those positions. An individual person may hold both the Secretary and Treasurer’s office. The powers and duties of the International Officer’s as outlined in these by-laws, with respect to Chapter business.

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

Active membership shall be available to Active and Retired Firefighting personnel of an established Fire Department, which is under the command of a Fire Chief or Public Service Director whether they are Career, Part Paid, On Call, Volunteer,Military or Industrial and who presently own or have access to a Motorcycle and have a current legal Motorcycle endorsement.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Associate membership shall be offered to a person who has been proposed, in writing, for such membership and accepted in good standing and in the opinion of a majority of the Executive Board, has substantially contributed to the promotion of the Red Knights, for a minimal period of six (6) months. Final approval shall be by a majority vote of the Corporation membership at the Annual meeting. Associate membership shall not exceed ten percent (10%) of the existing Active membership.

SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP

Social members shall be a Spouse, Partner, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Son, Daughter, Grandchildren, Brother or Sister, Father or Mother of an Active Member, AssociateMember or a Member-at-Large. The minimum
age for a Social member shall be 16 (sixteen) years of age before joining.

SPECIAL HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

Each Chapter may grant special Honorary Membership status to a member of a recognized religion for the position of Chapter Chaplain. Honorary membership may also be granted to a civic or business leader who does volunteer work for the Chapter. Honorary Membership may also be granted to the widow or widowers of an Active or Associate member. An honorary member shall not hold office or vote in the affairs of the Chapter.

CHARTER MEMBER

Effective September 9, 1989 the Charter Rocker shall be worn ONLY by an ACTIVE member of any Chapter. Charter members shall be restricted to ACTIVE members only of the ORIGINAL Chartering or to any ACTIVE member of that Chapter joining, not to exceed one (1) year from the date of the Chartering; with approval of the Chapters Board of Directors. A Charter member of any chapter who moves or transfers his membership to another chapter may retain his charter member rocker.

COMPASIONATE HONORARY MEMBER (CHM)

This shall be given to the surviving spouse or partner of any member of a chapter be they an Active, Associate, or Honorary member. This membership would be presented by the chapter for a tenure of it’s desire, there shall be no dues payable on this category of membership to the International organization. This will allow a surviving spouse or partner to continue to be part of the fraternal family of the chapter without placing a financial burden on the chapter.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP

To qualify for junior membership, children or Grandchildren of Active and Associate members must be under the age of sixteen (16) years. There shall be no dues collected for JuniorMembership by the International and chapters shall be allowed to list such Junior Members on their rosters until age 16. At age 16, the Junior Member must switch membership and pay dues.
